It’s, obviously, a Sky Fridaykind of image, but it’s also a lot more, again, the location should be obvious, from a speeding truck, on Interstate 10, through El Paso, TX. The ASARCO site. The dead and soon-to-be-dismantled site.
I know very little of the local history, other than it’s now toxic wasteland of sorts. Still, it’s been a visual reference point for me for years, like a dog-eared page in a book, or a scar of some kind, a rent in the flesh to remind me of where I’ve been.
Hardware: iPhone
Software: CameraBag.app
Location: El Paso, TX, eastbound I-10
It seems so strange that a derided landmark still stands – but even stranger after it falls, and we search for the unattractive tower on our drive on I-10. The reward will be its absence…
I hope you don’t feel too lost without your visual reference. It will seem odd not to have something that’s always been there, and then you’ll be happy for the photos.
It’s nice to have a photo you can look back on. Happy sky watching!
